We’ve been overwhelmed with the amazing name suggestions we’ve received for our special NOGU turtle from the Sea Turtle Conservancy! We hadn’t done anything like this before, so we didn’t know what to expect. Needless to say, the creativity amongst all of you exceeded our wildest expectations (and then some).
Once we started receiving name submissions, we realized how tough it would be to pick one name for our turtle. But our team did our best, looking for a name that represents NOGU and also honors the precious turtle we’re sponsoring. Though it was hard, we’re definitely overjoyed with our decision.
Now that we have our turtle named, every purchase going forward from our Sea Turtle Collection will receive an email that includes a link to track our turtle. Tracking links will also be sent to recent purchases from May, 2021.
Not only do you get to track our turtle, but everyone who’s purchased from the collection will also get to participate in the super special Tour de Turtles currently in progress!
For more info about tracking and the Tour (and the name we went with), keep on reading.
NOGU x Sea Turtle Conservancy
Founded in 1959, the Sea Turtle Conservancy has over 60 years of conservation, research, training, and advocacy experience.
They’re the world’s oldest sea turtle conservation organization.
Words can’t express how thankful we are to be partnered with them, and each purchase from our Sea Turtle Collection truly makes an impact. 10% of net sales of each product sold go directly to the organization. With these donations, the fabled guardians of the oceans can be protected and the Sea Turtle Conservancy can keep being one of the most amazing nonprofits on the planet.
Now that we have a special turtle from the Conservancy, every recent and future purchase from this collection will come with an exclusive tracking link. This link will get to you by email, so make sure to keep checking your inbox! If you ever have any questions or concerns about your tracking link, don’t hesitate to reach out to us through social media or contact us here.
What’s Tour de Turtles?
Tour de Turtles is a 3-month-long event hosted by the Sea Turtle Conservancy, sponsors, and partners (like us). Over the course of these 3 months, a marathon competition takes place where each sponsor is - in a sense - racing their tracked turtles against one another! Whichever turtle travels the furthest over the 3 months is crowned the winner.
The marathon will be shown through regularly-updating maps displaying movement and distance traveled by each of the participating turtles. Throughout this event, the Conservancy will also encourage audiences to learn more about sea turtle biology, threats, and conservation efforts.

This marathon (and tracking overall) is done in a safe, non-invasive manner. Each sea turtle is carefully outfitted with an accurate satellite-tracking device which sends a signal each time the turtle surfaces to breathe. Transmitters are attached to adult female turtles after they successfully deposit eggs on their respective nesting beaches, just before they begin their migrations back to distant foraging grounds.
So… Which Name Did We Choose?
Again, we can’t highlight enough how many amazing submissions we received. Your creative minds are hugely cherished, and if we could have hundreds of turtles with all your name submissions, we’d do that.
For our special NOGU turtle, the name we chose is:
This beautiful name was submitted by Crystal Case from our NOGU Insiders group on Facebook. In Greek, Eunoia literally means: “beautiful thinking.” If someone is or has eunoia, it means they have a pure and well-balanced mind.
To live with eunoia is to live with good intentions, and to bring goodwill and kindness to every task and interaction.
Our team thought Eunoia perfectly encapsulates what NOGU is trying to do. We want to leave this world better than how we found it - and we do that through treating everyone with kindness and approaching any task or decision with the purest intentions.
We can’t wait to learn more about our precious friend Eunoia. We hope you can’t wait either!
